Have you ever wondered why there are bakeries or ready meals sections in commercial spaces that invite you to buy as soon as you see them? It’s no coincidence. Behind every well-designed space there is a commercial interior design strategy and furnishings that have been thought out in detail.
When a customer enters these sections, the first thing he or she notices is not only the aroma of the products, but also the way they are presented. The distribution of the space, the lighting and the quality of the commercial furniture for bakeries have a direct influence on their purchasing decision.

At InscaShops, we know that shop fittings and furnishings help to enhance the shopping experience. That is why we manufacture made-to-measure shop furniture that combines functionality, design and efficiency so that each product stands out and the customer enjoys a unique experience.
Below, we tell you what type of furniture is essential for equipping a bakery or prepared food section, how it influences the customer experience and what aspects you should take into account to make these departments more attractive and efficient.
Commercial furniture design: balancing aesthetics and functionality
The commercial interior design of a bakery or ready meal space must convey quality and freshness. To achieve this, commercial furniture design has to be adapted to the needs of each section, such as in the bakery, where food displays keep bread fresh and visible thanks to resistant and easy-to-clean materials.

On the other hand, in take away sections or even buffets, it is necessary to have food display cabinets that protect the food and, at the same time, allow a fast and efficient service.
At InscaShops, we design and manufacture shop furniture that meets these requirements and reinforces the brand identity of each establishment. You only have to look at the projects we have materialised for companies such as El Corte Inglés.
What types of commercial furniture are necessary in these sections?
To ensure a smooth shopping experience, the retail furniture and equipment must include:
- Shelving and display units: These allow for efficient organisation and an attractive presentation of products. In the case of the bakery, shelves of different heights help to display products in an orderly and eye-catching manner.
- Display cabinets and counters: Designed to preserve and display food safely. For ready meals, refrigerated display cabinets are essential, while for bakery, closed or semi-closed cabinets allow adequate ventilation and visibility.
- Support furniture: Such as work or storage tables to optimise the work of staff. In a bakery, work tables for preparing and slicing bread, while in a take-away area, modular tables for packaging and organising food.
- Self-service furniture: In this case, self-service tables or counters where customers select and serve themselves autonomously.
- Mobile display trolleys: Ideal for bakeries to move products from one place to another according to space requirements or customer peaks. – Integrated lighting systems: Essential for highlighting products, especially in showcases and displays to make products look attractive and fresh at all times.
At InscaShops, our experience in the manufacture of bespoke shop furniture allows us to create customised solutions that adapt to each space and need.
The importance of visual merchandising in bakery and ready meals
Visual merchandising is necessary in the food sector. A good design of commercial furniture helps to improve the presentation of products and to encourage impulse purchases.

For this reason, at InscaShops we manufacture commercial equipment that enhances the display of products, with solutions such as furniture with integrated lighting to highlight products, modular designs that allow quick changes according to seasonality and finishes that reinforce the perception of quality, among others.
What are the most durable and easy-to-clean materials for bakery and take away furniture?
In high-traffic spaces such as bakeries and take-away sections, supermarket commercial furniture has to meet requirements such as: being resistant, hygienic, easy to clean and, above all, attractive to customers.

Imagine a bakery where wooden shelves convey warmth and tradition, or a ready meals section with impeccable glass display cabinets that highlight the freshness of the food. The choice of furnishings directly influences the customer’s perception and shopping experience.
‘If a space looks organised, clean and accessible, products are more likely to be irresistible’.
That’s why at InscaShops we are committed to making bespoke shop furniture from materials that combine design and strength. In some bespoke projects we use stainless steel on food handling surfaces to ensure hygiene, laminated wood to give a cosy touch without sacrificing durability, and tempered glass in displays to improve visibility and safety.
What materials are the most suitable for the commercial furniture for bakeries and take away shops?
Each material has its function and brings a different style to each space such as…
- Stainless steel: Essential in food handling areas due to its resistance to humidity, ease of cleaning and durability. It is ideal for worktops, counters and work areas where hygiene is paramount.
- Laminate and plywood: A popular choice for shelving and displays, providing warmth without sacrificing strength. They can be customised in a wide variety of finishes and colours to suit the identity of the business.
- Tempered glass: Present in showcases and displays for excellent product visibility while ensuring safety and impact resistance.
- Compact solid surfaces: Synthetic materials with high resistance to stains and bacteria, ideal for counters and customer service areas.
- Antibacterial coatings: In areas where food safety is critical, materials with antibacterial protection create a more hygienic and healthy environment.
Finishes that reinforce the image of the business
The finish of the furniture also influences the customer’s perception. Furniture with natural textures such as wood conveys craftsmanship and tradition in bakeries, while glossy, minimalist surfaces emphasise freshness and modernity in the ready meals section.

At InscaShops, we select each material and finish to ensure that our shop furniture is durable, functional and in keeping with the visual identity of the business.
Case study: This is how we did it at El Corte Inglés
Choosing the right shop fittings is not just a question of materials, but how they contribute to the shopping experience and positioning of the business. At InscaShops, we create retail spaces that invite customers to linger, explore and, of course, buy.

We were in charge of the manufacture and assembly of the restaurant furniture for El Corte Inglés de Pozuelo de Alarcón in Madrid. In this case, we materialised a lattice using mirrored methacrylate to which we incorporated a mosaic of circles made of tubes with copper finishes.
On the other hand, to hide the refrigerated display cabinets. We use melamine finish boards in albino ash and compact for the top. In this way, we provide resistance and durability in this commercial environment, following the design provided by the firm.

In short, commercial furniture for bakery and ready meals is a factor to take into account in the sales strategy of any supermarket or food shop.
At InscaShops, we offer customised solutions in commercial furniture design, manufacture and on-site assembly, guaranteeing functionality, aesthetics and quality in each project.
